It's no news that this winter has been terrible. It seems as though it snows every other day. If you're like me, you dread walking to class simply because of this one problem: salt. Goodbye to not looking like a hot mess, with my black leather boots looking more like a shade of gray. I even managed to get my bag somehow covered in salt. So after finding a way to remove salt from leather boots, I felt it was my job to share.
What you will need:
- A shoe brush
- Body soap
- A spray bottle
- Vinegar
- Hair conditioner
- Towel
- Waterproof spray specifically for leather boots
Step 1: Brush off as much salt and debris as you can on the boots with the brush.
Step 2: Mix the body wash with some water and using the towel begin to gently scrub the boots.
Step 3: Take the spray bottle and make a mixture of half water and vinegar. Shake it up so it mixes well. Then spray the boots with the mix.
Step 4: Take a towel and water to remove any leftover vinegar that might dry to the boots.
Step 5: Because the vinegar may dry the boots, take a bit of conditioner and spread it evenly. Again, remove after with a towel.
Step 6: Finally, spray the boots with the waterproof spray. This can be purchased at shoe stores or even places like Target and WalMart.
And that's it! Make sure to do all steps evenly over the boots to avoid an uneven shade. Balance is key. Now you can show winter that it can't step in between you and making the walk to class your runway.
