The warmer weather is starting to appear (finally!) and crop tops are being spotted everywhere. They are becoming a spring trend that can be seen in the streets or even on runways, such as Michael Kors. The key is to make sure to pull it off right, to give a sexy, yet sophisticated look.
You don't have to have a perfect stomach to wear a crop top. That being said, you can still wear one without bearing too much skin. Your belly button can still be covered up, showing minimal skin. In fact, showing too much skin can have a crop top lose it's style and look more "street walker" than "starlet", as they'd say on Fashion Police.
High waisted skirts are a good look for doing this. Pencil, maxi, and mini skirts may all be good choices. Depending on the type of skirt, they can have added pieces to dress them up as well. For example, adding blazers to pencil skirts may give a more conservative look. Mini and maxi skirts may also add a light, open jacket or even a loose, open cardigan, just showing off a little skin in the front. This can be especially useful on those cool spring days where just a crop top isn't warm enough.
Besides skirts, high waisted shorts and pants are good to add to the crop top look as well. Don't wear low waist with crop tops, for that trend stayed where it should: back in the 90's. Crop tops with pants and shorts can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the accessories added. They may be worn with sneakers, flats, boots, heels, or sandals. Also, different sets of jewelry can be played around with to go for a different look.
